Technical Codes

Mise-En-Scene:
In the alternative rock genre of music bands such as muse and the killers appear to be wearing smart-casual clothing, which seems to be quite popular within this genre. The lighting appears to reflect the mood of the song and the music video for example during a sad song the lighting will be low but if it is an upbeat and happy song the lighting will be bright.

Camera Angles:
The camera angles used in alternative rock videos are used as follows: High angle shots are used to establish the setting of the video, There are constant close ups of both members of band and their instruments, Group shot show the bands in their entirety, Low angle shots capture the lead singers and allow them to dominate the screens,Mid shots are used to good effect to show detailed movements of people in the video and Long shots are used to capture an overall image of the narrative of the video.

Editing:
Editing in alternative rock videos is synchronous with the beat and mood of the song for example if the song is angry the editing will be fast and aggressive to match the tempo of the video whereas if the video is sad the speed of the editing is slow fading will probably be used if the music video has a slow tempo.
